Robin eventually left Batman, and moved to another city (though it is known to still be close to Gotham) to continue fighting crime, though this time he intended to go solo. For reasons undisclosed in the show, but the actual reason being that after being shot, Batman tried to take Robin out of the field, but Robin thought he was being treated like a kid and was about to give up being a hero with Batman (calling it “Kid Stuff”). Through the years of working with the Dark Knight, he was greatly trained mentally and physically in ways no other child was. Together, Batman (Bruce) and he disrupted Zucco’s extortion rackets and gambling rackets and then successfully baited the riled Zucco into visiting a construction sight, where they captured him. He was adopted by Bruce Wayne after his parents were killed by Zucco, and became Robin. During their next performance on the trapeze, his parents were swinging from ropes when they suddenly broke, causing his parents to fall to their deaths.īefore he could go to the police, Batman appeared, and warned him that the two gangsters worked for Tony Zucco, a very powerful crime boss, and that revealing his knowledge could lead to his death. Other than movie or TV properties like Batman ’66, the company isn’t producing 3.75-inch DC Comics action figures for retail. Like last year’s First Appearance Superman ( click here), these action figures were a total surprise. (Then again, perhaps he’s a tiny bit too short.) Dick Grayson is one of my all-time favorite characters and his relationship with Starfire was one of the main draws of the classic NTT series.īest part? Dick’s actually shorter than Kory, so whoever designed these knew what they were doing.Įach figure has nine points of articulation. On a personal level, I like these two even better than the first two - especially Nightwing in his original, so-called Disco outfit and Perez-styled haircut. My box came with the latter two - but now I’ve gotten my hands on Dick Grayson and Princess Koriand’r: The highlight was the 3.75-inch-scale action figures that come in the box: You get two of these four at random - Nightwing, Starfire, Cyborg or Raven. REVIEW: More on the company’s surprise New Teen Titans release…Ī couple weeks ago, I happily showed off Funko’s latest DC Comics subscription mystery box, with its Teen Titans theme - which was really a sneak tribute to Marv Wolfman and George Perez’s The New Teen Titans.
